| State Director |
Provides leadership for the Council by establishing
policy, strategies, and objectives consistent with SHRM,
Area and National Board policies; provides guidance to Council
members; manages the affairs of the Council as the chief
elected officer; sits as a voting member on the Regional
Board; presides over meetings of the Council; promotes the
Council and the profession by personal appearances and speaking
engagements before SHRM chapters and other organizations;
and prepares regular reports for the Regional Board and/or
National Board as required. |

Serves as a member of the State Council providing
the continuity of leadership; provides advice and counsel
to the State Director; assists in the identification, recruitment,
and selection of future council leaders; represents the council
to SHRM chapters and the public as required; and assists
with special projects as assigned by State Director. |
| State Director Elect |
Works in conjunction with the State Director
during the State Director's last term of office, in order
to provide a smooth efficient transition period; is a backup
to the State Director and presides over Council events as
necessary; promotes the Council and the profession by personal
appearances and speaking engagements before SHRM chapters
and other organizations; and works on special assignments
as directed. |
| Treasurer |
Directs the financial affairs of the State
Council; maintains financial records of the State Council;
prepares, interprets and disseminates periodic financial
status reports; prepares annual budget of revenue and expenses;
and makes financial transactions for all State Council events
and programs. Chairs the Finance Committee |
| Secretary |
Maintains the records of the Council; prepares
a draft agenda, minutes and reports associated with Council
meetings and activities; maintains State database; communicates
with National to update the database as necessary; and maintains
Council bylaws. |
| District Directors – South East,
South, East, and West |
Act as liaisons between local chapters, WI
State Council and National SHRM. Act as a resource to the
chapters within the district; and provide leadership and
promote the sharing of ideas, resources, and data among chapters. |
| Diversity Director |
Assists members and chapters in valuing diversity
in SHRM, our member companies and in the workplace in general;
educates members to increase awareness of diversity issues
and provides resources to help them manage diversity in their
own workplaces; and influences composition of membership
to increase diversity among the SHRM membership and volunteer
leadership. |
| Conference Liaison Director |
Manages all activities related to running
an annual State Council Conference; develops and monitors
a State Conference budget and objectives; appoints qualified
individuals to manage a specific function related to the
State Conference with the objective of selecting individuals
throughout the State; and, working with the conference co-chairs,
helps develop programs for the conference that serve the
HR professional and advance the HR profession in Wisconsin.
Assists functional directors with accommodations for other
State Council- sponsored conferences. |
| Workforce Readiness Director |
Serves as advocate for workforce readiness
on State Council and at other professional meetings and assists
chapters in coordinating programs and other chapter activities
on workforce readiness; monitors and evaluates state and
local activities concerning workforce readiness issues, such
as workforce investment authorization, welfare-to-work, and
education partnerships; works with chapter workforce readiness
advocates to plan and encourage chapter involvement and activities
impacting the workforce readiness arena; presents a report
on workforce readiness developments, issues, and/or initiatives;
develops and supports workshops and seminars which address
workforce readiness initiatives and issues; and provides
special recognition for chapter members and for state and
local programs that provide advancement of the workforce. |
| Certification Director |
Directs the Human Resource Certification activities
for the State Council, SHRM chapters and state SHRM members;
promotes the certification of Human Resource professionals
through the Human Resource Certification Institute throughout
the State to increase certified members; promotes the formation
of chapter study programs to facilitate the certification
of chapter members; and recognizes members who have gained
certification. |
| Foundation Director |
Represents the interests of the SHRM Foundation
and its activities to the State; educates the Chapters and
the State Council regarding the purpose and ongoing activities
of the SHRM Foundation; encourages Chapters to contribute
financially to the SHRM Foundation in the interest of advancing
research for the Human Resources profession; advises and
updates the State Council and chapters of the Foundation's
activities and fund-raising needs. |
| Governmental Affairs Director |
Provides members accurate and timely information
enabling them to assess the importance of proposed legislation
affecting the entities they represent; encourages all members
to actively support public policy reflecting the best interests
of the Society through formal ongoing communication with
their elected representatives; coordinates an annual Legislative
Conference; encourages and supports balanced and fair public
policy which reflects the best interests of the Society,
its members, and their employers; communicates the Society's
and each member's concern with proposed and existing legislation
along with administrative rules; establishes and maintains
a grassroots effort to effectively represent the Society's
position on all matters of interest and concern; and provides
a centralized monitoring and networking source for the Society. |
| Leadership Director |
Responsible for coordinating an annual State
Leadership Conference and identifying future SHRM leaders
in the State; and works with the State Council to facilitate
succession planning and create resources for state leaders. |
| College Relations Director |
Responsible for assisting and promoting student
chapter activities within the state; serves as a liaison
between student chapters and the State Council; promotes
the formation of new chapters; serves as a communications
link between student chapters and the National College Relations
Committee and National SHRM in disseminating information
relative to student programs, scholarships, certification,
student conferences, etc.; coordinates a state student conference
and promotes student activities at professional conferences,
and works with both faculty advisors and local chapter presidents
to encourage student participation in local professional
chapter meetings. |
| At-Large Director |
Serves as an appointed representative of at-large
SHRM members within the state; provides leadership and communication
for this segment of the SHRM membership; represents the interest
of the at-large membership at state council meetings; promotes
state and SHRM objectives and activities among practicing
members of the human resource profession; and performs special
assignments as requested by state council and/or SHRM leadership. |
| Communications Director |
Ensures that the communication of information
regarding SHRM and State Council activities is disseminated
to Chapters, members and external parties; acts as primary
coordinator for the State and Chapter web sites and assists
with public relation duties; maintains and coordinates the
statewide database; serves as a resource for the Council
in the use of technology to improve communication and informational
transfer with local chapters, at-large members, and SHRM
staff; encourages the development of consistent standards
to facilitate better sharing of data at all levels of the
leadership structure; and serves as the webmaster / web site
coordinator for the state council ensuring that both the
State and the chapter websites are updated and accurate. |
| Chapter Presidents |
Provide leadership to the local chapters consistent
with state, area, and national Society policy, strategies
and objectives; serves as a voting member of the State Council;
communicates state, area and/or national goals, policies
and programs to local chapter members; and provides reports
and other data necessary to the effective operation of the
State Council, the Regional Board, and the Society. |
