COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR
The Communications Director is responsible for ensuring that the
communication of information regarding SHRM and State Council activities
is disseminated to chapters, at-large members and external parties
in an effective and timely manner. The Communications Director
is the primary coordinator for the Council and chapter web sites,
assists with public relation duties, and maintains and coordinates
the statewide database.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Attend all State Council meetings and
actively participate in Council matters.
- Serve as a resource for the State Council
in the use of technology to improve communication and information
transfer with local chapters, at-large members, and SHRM staff,
with such activities as online newsletters and the Job Network.
- Coordinate efforts in encouraging the
development of consistent standards to facilitate better sharing
of data at all levels of the leadership structure.
- Serve as the web site coordinator with
the State Council management association firm for the State Council
website ensuring that both the State and the chapter websites
are updated and accurate per submitted requests.
- Assist with public relations activities,
collaborating with the council management association firm as
necessary, by communicating with media and other external parties.
- Develop and maintain website advertising
program.
- Ensure that the “affiliate of” SHRM
logo is on all printed materials, products and on the website.
- Ensure that SHRM activities or services
are highlighted on SHRM website and in other publications.
- Participate as a member of the Finance
Committee.
- Attend National SHRM Leadership Conference.
- Perform other duties as assigned by State Director.
REQUIREMENTS:
- SHRM membership
in good standing required.
- HRCI certification
preferred.
TERM:
Serves a term beginning the first day of January and ending the
last day of December. May be reappointed for two additional one-year
terms for a total service of three years.
